Monday at the George & Dragon

A Quiet Pour and a Listening Ear
Mondays are when the Dragon exhales. The fire's still warm, the ale's settled proper, and folk stop posturing long enough to tell the truth, or at least a version of it.
This week's been one of those where nothing exploded, nobody died in the common room, and yet I'd swear the world shifted its weight when no one was looking.
On Magic Feeling... Different
Had three spellcasters complain their tricks felt off. Not broken, mind, just... One swore his charm took longer to land. Another said her wards held firmer but cost more breath. That's how it starts, usually. The rules don't shatter. They creak.
New Boots, Old Lessons
A fresh band came through before supper. Clean cloaks, loud plans, and a map that hadnt earned its stains yet. By the third round they were quieter, listening more than talking. Good sign. Survivors learn early.
Arguments by the Hearth
The regulars got to debating how things are “meant” to work. Steel, spells, fate, same arguments every winter, just dressed up in new words. I let them talk. The fire doesn't care who's right.
Closing the Shutters
If there's a lesson this week, it's this ~ the world rarely announces its updates. You notice them in the margins, an extra heartbeat before a spell, a fight that runs shorter than expected, a choice that costs more than it used to.
Keep your eyes open. Keep your dice honest. And don't rush the first step.
Rumours & Hooks
- A hedge mage selling spells that improve the more you misuse them.
- A dungeon whose rooms rearrange between visits, but only on weekdays.
- A guild testing recruits with fewer trials, and harsher consequences.
